Care tips:
1. Pre-Treatment (If Needed)
- Stains or heavy soiling may be spot-treated before washing.
- Bathrobes are often shaken out to remove loose debris.
2. Washing Process
Detergent: Hotels use industrial-grade, mild, low-sudsing detergents that effectively clean without damaging the fabric.
Water Temperature: Warm water (around 30–40°C / 86–104°F) is commonly used to balance cleaning efficacy and fabric care.
Cycle: A gentle or medium wash cycle is used to prevent excessive wear on the cut pile fabric.
Bleach: Some hotels use oxygen-based bleach (not chlorine) to maintain whiteness without damaging cotton fibers.
3. Rinsing & Softening
- Thorough rinsing ensures no detergent residue remains, which can stiffen the fabric.
- Fabric softener or a sour agent (like vinegar in some cases) may be used to maintain softness.
4. Drying
- Tumble drying on low-medium heat helps restore fluffiness.
- Some hotels add tennis balls or dryer balls to fluff up the cut pile fibers during drying.
- Over-drying is avoided to prevent shrinkage and stiffness.
5. Finishing & Inspection
- Bathrobes are checked for stains, damage, or wear.
- Lightly steamed or pressed for a neat appearance.
- Folded and stored in a clean, dry area until use.
At-Home Care (If Washing Hotel-Style)
- Use mild detergent and avoid fabric softener buildup.
- Dry with wool dryer balls to maintain fluffiness.
- Avoid high heat to prevent shrinkage.
